Elderberry
King of the medicinal berries! Steeped in both folk-lore and science, Elderberries offer tremendous value to our immune health and overall well being, as well as being gorgeous additions to the landscape. Huge white flower umbels are followed by copious amounts of fruit relished by birds and humans alike. Making a syrup from the berries is a long known remedy useful for fighting off cold and flu infection. Strain out the seeds however, as they are NOT edible. Great plant for wetter soils! Self-fertile but yields will be greater with pollination from another variety
Wyldewood - A vigorous grower with massive blooms atop 7-10 foot stems. Large bunches of berries that ripen later than many other cultivars to extend the season.
York - Excellent early variety on a smaller bush than Wyldewood, only growing to 4-5 feet tall. Larger berries than many cultivars.
‘Moose Hill‘ - A large shrub with high yields of berries that we found growing next to a barn near the farm we work at. Unknown origins, either planted by humans years ago or by birds. Either way, this shrub stood out to us as excellent and worth propagating in our landscape!
Zones 3-9
Ships as a dormant bare root shrub or as cuttings
